Getting Married in Thailand
Basicallya Thai marriage will be accepted under UK law if it is valid under Thailaw. To be valid in Thai law, a religious ceremony alone is not alegally recognized marriage in Thailand or the UK, the marriage must beregistered with the Registrar at an Amphur Office (Local DistrictOffice) in Thailand. Before you get married you need to write an"Affirmation of Freedom to Marry". On arrival in Thailand, take this tothe Consulate in Bangkok to be witnessed and countersigned by aconsular official.

There must be suitable accommodations for him or her and anydependant's to live until you are married without help from statefunds; and they and any dependant's can be supported without working orhaving to get help from state funds. And again that you have actuallymet each other. Permission to stay in the UK is for six months but theapplicant must not work. After the applicant is married, they may applyto stay in the UK. Once approved the applicant will have permission tostay and work for two years. This is known as Further Leave to Remai.

AThai person married to a UK citizen is not automatically entitled tolive in the UK they must first obtain entry clearance i.e. a visa thismust be done before they travel to the UK. If the applicant is inThailand the only place to apply is the British Embassy Once approvedthe visa gives the applicant permission to stay and work in the UK for2 years. At the end of the 2 years, if you are still married and planto live together, your husband or wife may apply to remain in the UKpermanently.

At the end of the two years, the Thai citizen may apply to stay in the UK permanently this is called Indefinite Leave to Remain.
Ifyour marriage can survive this mountain of bureaucracy then your spousewill have pretty much the same rights and privileges of a British bornperson.
