If you are heading to Thailand and looking for entertainment like you will find nowhere else in the world; the place you are looking for is Bangkok.
Much has been written about the entertainment and nightlife in Bangkok, and it has been described as many things, but possibly the most appropriate was when it was dubbed ‘Asia’s Vegas’. There is so much to do by day and by night that you will struggle to fit in all in.
There is, shall we say, a seedier side to Bangkok which, unfortunately, far too many people consider to be what Bangkok is all about. Yes, there is a lot of this kind of stuff going on, and it is easy to find if that’s what floats your boat, but for those who just want a great time in one of the most exciting cities in the world then there are numerous other places to go and people to see.
Wherever you turn in Bangkok there will a bar, a restaurant or both. Great food, cheap drinks and either a live band or a floor show makes for a great night out. Of the newest bars is AB Bar Khoasan on the Khao San Road. There are live acts every night, a jazz night on a Tuesday and a superb drink and food menu that will ensure a good time is had by all.
The ACE bar and restaurant on Sukhumvit Soi 24/1 is a smart and classy establishment that is frequented by a slightly more mature customer that many Bangkok bars. It serves both Thai and Western cuisine, has some great 2-4-1 drinks offers and has many games facilities for the likes of pool, darts etc. The Ale House, Sukhumvit Soi 20, boasts free Wi-Fi, international menu, imported beers, a pool table and golden tee golf.
The Hollywood Awards club on Soi Ratchadapisek is classed as an international dance club, and has food, drink, music and cabaret way into the wee small hours, and all done in that inimitable Thai style. Kudos on Ratchapreuk Road is open daily from 5pm and has a well deserved reputation for its fine seafood. Enjoy a meal on the roof top terrace then move downstairs for the live music and some karaoke.
Kids aren’t forgotten in Bangkok either, and many aren’t aware of the existence of Dream World, the Thai equivalent of Disney World. Whether you are five or fifty, you will have a great day out here; taking in all the magical sights, riding the monorail or experiencing one of the numerous rides. There is one entry fee of 1000baht, around £20, which gives you unlimited rides, a buffet lunch, a trip round snow town and return transfer from your hotel.
Sitting atop of the Mall department store is Fantasia Lagoon, a breathtaking water park that will thrill and delight everyone who enters. Huge water slides and lagoons will keep everyone entertained for hours, but take time out to appreciate the unequalled view over the city that it’s location offers.
